Mahalo to the Pearl City Foundation for gifting the City & County of Honolulu with over $13,000 to install a moss rock pedestal and wooden sign to honor Pearl City’s beloved community leader Breene Harimoto. The sign reads, BREENE HARIMOTO MANANA COMMUNITY PARK and was installed yesterday, Tuesday, October 17, 2023.

Breene Harimoto is a founder of the Pearl City Foundation (PCF) and served as the PCF Executive Director until his passing in June 2020. He was a champion of the Pearl City community as a community leader, Board of Education Board Member, Honolulu City Councilman, and Hawaii State Senator.

Breene led his community efforts with his heart and soul while serving the Pearl City community as the PCF Executive Director and through the Momilani Community Center which is the also the heart and soul of our community for residents and their ohana.

I had the honor of serving with Breene as a fellow board member on both the Pearl City Foundation and the Pearl City Community Association. He taught me to serve the community with all my heart while asking for nothing in return. It was a very emotional and proud moment to stand in front of the Breene Harimoto Manana Community Park sign for the first time yesterday afternoon while being overwhelmed with memories of the many accomplishments that Breene led and inspired through hard work along with others, that truly benefitted and continues to benefit our community today.

The Breene Harimoto Manana Community Park sign is a testament to Breene making a profound difference in the Pearl City community while perpetuating his spirit upon those who will enjoy the park and facilities for generations to come. Today we honor Breene by recognizing his life of service, love for his community, and love from those he touched.
