Former Hawaii State House Representative Mark Takai won the Democratic Primary for Congressional District I on Saturday, August 9, 2014. Takai tallied 48,512 votes (42.8%) to closes challenger Donna Mercado Kim who picked up 30, 979 votes (27.3%). Takai will face Republican Charles Djou and NonPartisan candidate Robert H. Myer in November's General Election.
