Chargers rise to the occasion to turn back Bulldogs 17-15 (9/16/2017)

Pearl City’s Zion Tupuola-Fetui blocked a potential game winning field goal attempt on fourth and goal with :16 on the clock in the fourth quarter to fend off Kaimiki 17-15 on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at Farrington High School’s Skippa Diaz Stadium.

The win improved the Chargers to 5-0 and a share of first place with Waipahu (4-0) in the Oahu Interscholastic Association Division I regular season standings. Kaimuki sits in second place at 4-1 in league standings.

Pearl City QB Isaiah Asinsin scored both of the Chargers touchdowns on one yard sneaks at 5;10 of the first quarter and 9:15 of the fourth quarter.

Zameer Kahn booted through a 31 yard field goal at 9:50 in third quarter that broke a 7-7 tie.

Kaimuki got on the scoreboard to tie the game at 7-7 on a 5 yard touchdown pass from Bulldogs QB Jordan Solomon to Saburban Castillo and a PAT conversion by Richard Burton with 00:05 remaining in the first quarter. The Bulldogs scored their second touchdown a 19 yard touchdown pass from Solomon to Elijah Lemalu in the back of the end zone at 3:30 of the fourth quarter. Solomon and Lemalu connected again scoring on a 2 point conversion pass that pulled the Bulldogs within 2 points at 17-15.

Pearl City QB Isiaiah Asinsin completed 6/15 for 103 yards.

Chase Cudimat caught 2 passes for 76 yards to lead the Chargers receiving core.

Makoa Cooper pounded out a 148 yards on 19 carries for the Chargers.

Kaimuki QB Jordan Solomon completed 13/31 for 92 yards, 2 TD’s, and 1 INT.

Ieke Seei-Cleveland picked up 146 yards on 28 carries to lead the Bulldogs ground game.

On defense, Kasey Kikuyama recorded 8.5 tackles with 1 interception. Alihikaua 10, Kody Kikuyama 7, Zion Tupuloa-Fetui 4.5, and RJ Kami 3.

Kaulana Kaluna Jr. led the Bulldogs D with 7 tackles, 1 INT and a fumble recovery.

The Chargers (5-0) return to action in a battle of the undefeated, and sole possession of first place in the OIA D2 Conference standings against Waipahu (4-0) on Friday, September 22, 2017 at Waipahu High School.
