Waipahu’s 5 run, 6th inning shocks Pearl City 5-3 (3/18/2017)

Waipahu rallied for five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat the visiting Pearl City Chargers 5-3 in Oahu Interscholastic Western Division I varsity baseball on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Waipahu High School.

The Chargers were in cruise control with a 3-0 lead before the Marauders five run rally turned the game around and went unanswered in the Chargers final at bats in top of the seventh inning.

Jaron Sugimoto earned the win for Waipahu in relief of starter Kobie Russell. Gabe Ballesteros earned the save.

Dillin Hasegawa took the loss for Pearl City in relief of starter Jansen Shigeta. Cade Halemanu relieved Hasegawa in the bottom of the sixth inning.

T the plate, Waipahu’s Steven De Silva batted 1-2 with a double, RBI, and run scored for the Marauders. Khaine Viliamu went 2-2 with a run scored. Matt Fiesta batted 1-4 with a double.

Pearl City’s Matt Aribal batted 3-3 with a double for the Chargers. Davin Kapuras batted 2-3 with a double and a run scored. Christian Onomura went 1-3 with 2 RBI. Cade Halemanu batted 1-3.

With the win, Waipahu improved to 4-3 in league play while the Chargers slipped below .500 at 3-4.
