Pearl City notches first win of the regular season 6-2 over Waipahu

The Pearl City Chargers got into the win column in Oahu Interscholastic Association Western Division I Baseball after defeating the visiting Waipahu Marauders 6-2 on Saturday at Pearl City High School. The Chargers opened up a four-run lead in the bottom of the first inning and added single runs in the bottom of the third and fifth innings. Waipahu scored single runs in the top of the fifth and sixth innings. The Chargers led the Marauders the entire ball game.

Pearl City starting pitcher Halona Felix earned the win for the Chargers holding the Marauder battery to 2 runs, 3 hits with 1 walk and 5 strikeouts over 5 complete innings.  Devin Won pitched 2 innings in relief of Felix.

Jayven Taira took the loss for Waipahu allowing 4 runs and 4 hits with no walks and 1 strikeout in 1 inning on the hill for the Marauders. Reysen Benigno and Issac Lemos pitched 5 innings in relief for the Marauders.

At the plate, Pearl City pounded out 10 hits including 4 doubles (Honma, Fujino, Bernal, Au Hoy). Devin Fujino led the Chargers at the plate hitting a perfect 3-3 with a double, 2 RBI and a run scored.
