PCCA, PCHS, volunteer at Easter morning, Neil Blaidell Park clean-up (4/1/2018)

Apr 1, 2018

I would like to thank my fellow Pearl City Community Association board members and their ohana, along with Ms. Tammy Young and her students from Pearl City High School’s Class of 2021, who teamed up Easter morning, Sunday, April 1, 2018, to pick up rubbish at Neil Blaisdell Park and Pearl Harbor Bike Path in Aiea/Pearl City.

Sunday morning’s clean-up was a part of Matson’s commitment and partnership with the City & County of Honolulu and community volunteers who work together to help keep our aina clean.

Through Matson’s annual generous financial support, community volunteers and their organizations earn $1000 per clean up project. The City & County provides trash bags, rakes, pickers, and trash pick up pans.

After an hour and half of combing the park and bike path, and with our trash bags filled, the volunteers deposited their bags into the KA IPU ‘AINA, “Container for the Land” which was provided by Matson.

Mahalo to Clinton Jamille from the City & County of Honolulu Parks & Recreation Department for providing us with the items listed above as well as working side by side by with all of us to clean the park and bike path.

Mahalo to PCCA secretary Patti Rabacal for organizing our Easter Day morning clean up. The money earned today will go directly in support of the PCCA’s efforts to provide much needed financial donations to our Pearl City District Complex Schools.

A very special mahalo to PCCA Vice President Kyle Miyashiro, who is also the Student Services Coordinator at Pearl City High School, and Ms. Tammy Yoon, and her PCHS students for volunteering their time to serve our community.

Great job!

Happy Easter!
