Former Amateur Boxing Champion Eiichi Jumawan brings his thirty five plus years of experience to the Momilani Community Center as the Head Coach and Executive Director of Pearlside Boxing.

Coach Jumawan and his highly dedicated and experienced coaching staff strive to deliver the following Vision and Mission statements to its members and community:

Vision: To impact lives, help people and our community through guidance, modeling, and programs.

Mission: To turn lives around through mentoring, fitness, and athletics.

I attended a training session on Thursday, September 10 at the Momilani Community Center and was inspired to assist in getting the word out to our MyPearlCity.com Ohana about the work that Coach Jumawan and his staff is doing for our community through the Pearlside Boxing program.

I was greeted by Coach Joffrey Rabanal who introduced me to the coaching staff, boxers and supporters. Everyone in attendance made me feel welcomed. It was honor being introduced to Coach Jumawan. As a boxing fan, I can clearly remember back to the 70’s when Coach Jumawan was an Amateur Boxing Champion and the thrill it was to go the Blaisdell Arena (HIC) to watch him box.

Coach Jumawan’s passion for boxing has grown from being an Amateur Champion to his complete dedication to bettering our community through the sport of boxing. The classes and programs offered by Pearlside Boxing embrace our youth. It gives them the opportunity to learn sportsmanship while becoming well rounded, positive and productive student athletes. For adults, the program offers a chance to being healthy and staying fit.

I would like to recognize Robyn Jumawan (Mrs. Coach) who plays an instrumental role in the success of Pearlside Boxing. I guess her biggest role is being married to the Head Coach. She also is also the Editor of the Pearlside Boxing Newsletter.

Robyn also completed the “Officials Clinic” which qualified participants to officiate as Judges and Timekeepers.
