The Pearl City Chargers Junior Varsity football team ran all over the Waialua Bulldogs last Saturday night scoring 40 points in the first half. The visiting Chargers were unstoppable pounding out yards on the ground and in the air. The Chargers, who were coming off a bye week entering Saturday’s contest, took it to the next level with their performance. The Chargers scored one touchdown in the second half on an 11 yard TD toss from QB Angel Aponte to wide receiver Adrian Hall to end scoring for the night.
The Chargers hit the road again next week to take on the Kalani Falcons at Kaiser High School. Game time is scheduled for 4:00pm.

Two way players, Hayden Concepcion and Cyrus Coen led the Pearl City Chargers to victory on Saturday. The tandem lined up as linebackers on Defense and split time in the Charger backfield on Offense. They spent the night pounding on the Waialua offense and turning around and pounding it out on the ground against the defense.
Coen and Concepcion both received the extra H Back duties while filling in for starter Ray Cooper who is recovering from an injury suffered in last week’s loss to Anuenue. Their performance as team leaders was inspiring. Head Coach Kai Kamaka, “They are actually the heart and leaders of our team especially with Ray Cooper being out with his mild concussion. We really looked up to those guys for leadership and they really stepped up tonight.” When asked about the time frame for Ray Cooper’s return, Coach Kamaka responded, “He’s cleared to come back next week but I’m going to hold him out and rest him against Kalani. I’ll let Hayden and Cyrus carry the load again on the H Back and he’ll come back for the Kalaheo game.”
The Chargers first score came on a field goal by kicker Tyler Yamanouchi. Cyrus Coen scored on a 2 yard run with 7:47 left in the 2nd Quarter followed by a Tyler Yamanouchi extra point to put the Chargers ahead 10-7.
Coen scored again on a 30 yard touchdown run with 9:24 remaining in the 3rd Quarter to put the Chargers up 16-7. Yamanouchi drove the extra point kick through for the games final point to extend the Chargers lead to 17-7. The 4th Quarter went scoreless.
The Chargers Defense played tough all night led by the Hayden Concepcion and
Cyrus Coen as well as big time plays from teammates Ronson Barrett, Marco Gonsales,
Troy Barboza Scanlan, Dennis King, Todd Martin and the rest of the Charger D.
Pearl City improves its record to 2-4 (2-3 in the OIA White Division).
