The Pearl City Chargers Junior Varsity and Varsity Football teams earned very convincing victories over the Kalani Falcons on Saturday (10/3/09) at Kaiser High School Field.
JV: Pearl City 39 Kalani 0
The Junior Varsity Chargers are on a roll pounding out another shut out victory for the second week in a row. Charger QB’s Brock Teixeira and Angel Aponte ran the passing and ground game with perfection while the Charger Defense attacked all night holding the Falcon offense to zero points. The Chargers have scored 79 points to their opponents
0 in two weeks.
Varsity: Pearl City 35 Kalani 12
The Charger Varsity football team played tough against a spirited Kalani Falcon team that gutted it out until the last second on the clock. Charger QB Isaac Shim led the way through the air passing for 218 yards, completing 12-26-1. On the receiving end Kelson Laboy had a big night hauling in 5 passes for 121 yards and scoring 2 TD’s.
RB’s Cyrus Coen and Hayden Concepcion went both ways on Offense and Defense while filling in for RB Ray Cooper for the third straight game while he is recovering from an injury. The tandem rushed for; Coen-36 and Comcepcion-32 yards on 4 carries each.
Next up the Charger JV and Varsity teams face off with the Kalaheo Mustangs at Home
on Saturday, October 10. JV game starts at 4:00pm. Varsity contest starts 25 minutes from the conclusion of the JV game.
