Dr. Suess brings Everyday Heroes to Lehua Elementary School

Lehua Elementary School in Pearl City hosted, "Dr. Suess with our Everyday Heroes" on Wednesday, March 3, 2010. Volunteers from the Pearl City community were invited to the school to read a book to one or two different classes of students.

"We enjoy bringing the community in to read to the students," said Lenna Crosby, PCNC.

Everyday Hero volunteer readers represented the Pearl City community, Military, Honolulu Fire Department and MyPearlCity.com. Volunteers spent 15 minutes with each grade level. Lehua Elementary School librarian, Kris Chan provided the volunteers with their choice of books to read from the complete Dr. Suess collection.

3rd grade student volunteers from Ms. Kawasaki and Ms. Kim's classes did a great job escorting the Everyday Heroes to and from each classroom.

The purpose of the "Dr. Suess with our Everyday Heroes" event was to help make reading fun. "We really want to encourage them to go to the library," said Vice Principal, Ursula Kawaguchi.

At the end of the event, the Everyday Heroes gathered at the school library for a generous feast of "Green Eggs and Ham". Just like Sam, " I really do like Green Eggs and Ham."

Thanks to all of those individuals involved in organizing the event  and especially to all the students. The Everyday Heroes Ohana had a really great time!
