The Pearl City community turned out on Friday, June 4 to the newly opened Mahiku Farmers Market at the Momilani Community Center. Shoppers found everything from fresh produce to fresh poki to beautiful orchids in an open market atmosphere that brought everyone together for an opportunity to shop and mingle with their neighbors.
"This is great because its not only people coming to buy things, its like they're meeting friends and talking story." said Pearl City Foundation Executive Director, Breene Harimoto.

The partnership between the Momilani Community Center-Pearl City Foundation and Mahiku Farmers Market serves the Pearl City community by providing fresh, locally grown fruit and vegetables. Also, a tasty selection of local plate lunch favorites like; Sauteed Walu, Sauteed Garlic Shrimp, beef stew, fresh poke etc.
"We're hired to come and support the Pearl City community," said Mahiku Farmers Market owner, Sonny Duong. "The Farmers Market is going to build and be one of the best. We plan to bring more vendors in the next couple of weeks."
