A couple of weeks ago, Certified Jazzercise Instructor, Virginia Tailo from Jazzercise Pearl City contacted MyPearlCity.com to get information on how her company could become more involved in serving the Pearl City community. I told her that MyPearlCity.com could definitely guide her in the right direction.

I became very interested in learning more about Certified Jazzercise Instructor, Virginia Tailo and her Jazzercise Pearl City operation. I accepted an invitation to sit in on a Saturday morning workout session recently held at the Pearl City Highlands Elementary School (PCHES) cafeteria.

After a warm up session, the Jazzercise Pearl City class, under the direction of Jazzercise Instructor, Virginia "Extraordinaire" Tailo, got to work. Movin and groovin to the beat, everyone working in unison. I was impressed.

"The program with Jazzercise is a mixture of all Latin dance, strength training, kick boxing, yoga, everything is incorporated in there," said Jazzercise Pearl City Instructor, Virginia Tailo.

From my vantage point, it really seemed that everyone in the class was having a good time, and most importantly there was a refreshing sense of camaraderie and friendship in the air.

"They get a good workout; they get to talk to each other, great fellowship. The program for me, Jazzercise, is women helping women and men, and helping our community as well, that’s why I’m here in Pearl City,” said Tailo.

"It’s all about having fun and getting fit. Everybody is so serious, but you just have to relax.  I have two house rules; House Rule #1: No Judgment, House Rule #2: No Gossip."

Jazzercise Pearl City besides classes held at Pearl City Highlands on Saturday mornings, also conducts classes at the Manana Community Park and at Harbor Center in Aiea.

"Manana which is right down the street, and that program is through the City and County of Honolulu," commented Tailo on Jazzercise Pearl City's Manana Community Park classes. "That’s where I started. This is part of Harbor Center, because I also teach at Harbor Center. I teach there twice a week and once here. That program is separate from Manana."

Jazzercise Pearl City also offers the Ohana an opportunity to stay fit and healthy with classes open to ages from keiki to senior citizens.

"Our classes start out at our youngest who is 6 years old and my oldest is about 79 years old. So the average is between forty and fifty."

Virginia Tailo has a desire to truly make a difference in our Pearl City community. Her motivation to improve the health and well being our residents through the Jazzercise Pearl City fitness program, will someday soon, manifest itself in the efforts and energies needed to successfully serve those in need..

"I want us to get involved in “what’s going on with the community”, not just being Jazzercise Pearl City, but to be involved as well. My girls and my Jazzercise managers are aware of that too," said Tailo. “My name is Jazzercise Pearl City and I will be serving our community. We are going to get involved. It’s time to move forward."

Welcome aboard!
