Volunteers from the Pearlridge Rotary Club teamed up with the Oahu Master Gardeners Association on Saturday, October 2, 2010 to help with their Rose Garden Project at the University of Hawaii Urban Garden Center in Pearl City.
Pearlridge Rotarians shed their usual business attire for t-shirts, shorts, old shoes, gloves and a lot of sunscreen. Volunteers clocked in for duty at 8:00am sharp and put in a solid four hours of work that wrapped up around 12 noon.
Duties on Saturday included; painting, tilling flower beds, laying down gravel for garden walkways and placing heavy stones in the Rose Garden pavilion. Volunteers also had an opportunity to learn from the Oahu Masters Gardeners and tour the expansive Urban Garden Center grounds.

Saturday's Rose Garden community service project is an example of how productive partnerships benefit our community.
The successful partnership between the Pearlridge Rotary Club and the Oahu Master Gardeners Association guarantees that "everything will be coming up roses" for years to come at the University of Hawaii's Urban Garden Center in Pearl City.
