Coen leads Chargers on the All-State football second team

The Pearl City Chargers football team landed four players on the 2010 Honolulu Star Advertiser All-State Football team this week led by Cyrus Coen who was a second team selection at Safety.

Coen also contributed on Offense pictured here scoring a touchdown against the McKinley Tigers at Roosevelt High School. Coen rushed for 538 yards and 9 touchdowns on the season.

All purpose Chargers star, Ray Cooper received All-State third team honors as a Utility player followed by Diacorri Briscoe (Receiver) and Jordan Mendiola (Cornerback) who both made Honorable Mention.

#5 Ray Cooper was also a double threat on both defensive and offensive sides of the ball in 2010. Cooper is pictured at his Linebacker position against Anuenue at the Chargers, Edwin "Bino" Neves Stadium.

Ray Cooper on his way to a touchdown against the McKinley Tigers. Cooper ran for 404 yards and 3 touchdowns during the 2010 season. He also added 200 yards receiving with a 13.3 yard average per catch and 2 touchdowns.

Chargers All Star Wide Receiver, #3 Diacorri Briscoe crossing the goal on a touchdown reception against Anuenue. Briscoe led the Chargers receiving corps in 2010 with 25 receptions for 552 yards and 6 touchdowns. He also averaged 22.1 yards per catch for the season.

Earlier this month, OIA coaches selected Coen as the  2010 Oahu Interscholastic Association White Division Defensive Player of the Year. Both Coen and Cooper were also selected to the OIA White Division Defensive First team as Linebackers.

Diacorri Briscoe received First Team Offensive honors at the Wide Receiver position and joining Briscoe was Chargers Offensive Lineman standout Iokepa Alcantra.

Coen, along with Ronson Barrett also picked up OIA White Division Defensive Second Team honors at Defensive Back. Defensive Lineman, Josiah Demello joined his teammates on the Second Team.
