Pearl City Elem. Junior K students Step-Up during graduation ceremony

A special Stepping Up Graduation Ceremony was held on Monday for the Junior Kindergarten classes at Pearl City Elementary School.

Parents were invited to the graduation ceremony that was held in the school cafeteria to watch their Junior K  graduates receive their diploma's and lei during the thirty minute program..

"Today is the Stepping Up Graduation Ceremony and it's very meaningful because some of the Junior K will be promoted to first grade and some of the Junior K will go to Kindergarten," said Dr. Susan Hirokane, Principal, Pearl City Elementary School. "The difference is children enter at an early age, at age five, and so they are allowed the opportunity to move up to a higher level or move up to Kindergarten which is the traditional promotion."

Pearl City Elementary School Alumni, Senator David Ige attended the graduation ceremony as a guest speaker an awards presenter. Special recognition went out to Mr. Ginoza who will be retiring at the end of the school year after 44 years of service as a teacher at the school.
