Kaakepa Street (aka Manana Connector Road) to open on June 29

The City and County of Honolulu will open newly completed Kaakepa Street in Pearl City to traffic on Wednesday, June 29, 2011. The long-awaited Kaakepa Street (aka Manana Connector Road or old Cane Haul Road will connect Kuala Street to Kuahaka Street.

There will be a Kaakepa Street dedication and blessing ceremony held at the intersection of Kaakepa Street and Kuala Street on Wednesday, June 29 at 10:00am. Shortly after the ceremony, Kaakepa Street will open to the public.

Honolulu Mayor, Peter Carlisle along with Honolulu City Councilmember, Breene Harimoto, State Legislators representing Pearl City, Pearl City Community Association and other representatives from Pearl City organizations and schools will participate in the Kaakepa Street dedication and blessing ceremony.

Kaakepa Street was constructed to help alleviate the growing traffic congestion in the Manana area.
