The Pearl City Shopping Center (PCSC) Merchants Association made a couple stops at Pearl City District Complex Schools earlier in the week to present $1000 donations to Pearl City High School and Pearl City Elementary School.
On Monday, August 8, Pearl City High School Vice Principal, Hahn Nguyen and Athletics Director, Reid Shigemasa were presented with a $1000 check donation from to help support the PCHS Athletic Department.
"The generous donation from PCSC will be used toward our future weight & training room that is being constructed right now," said Pearl City High School Athletics Director, Reid Shigemasa. "We plan on purchasing new equipment that will benefit our student- athletes so they may continue to "Excel with Honor!" on the playing field."
On Wednesday, August 10, Pearl City Elementary School Principal, Dr. Susan Hirokane was presented with a donation of 10 – $100 Pearl City Shopping Center Gift Certificates from the PCSC Merchants Association during a welcome back to school assembly held in the school cafeteria.
"We're very grateful because with this thousand dollars, since we have half of our student population who are at risk, many cannot afford to go to some field trips, so they can't afford to have a lunch as a back up," said Pearl City Elementary School Principal, Dr. Susan Hirokane. "In addition, all the kids will be benefiting through the classrooms. They have special recognition activities, not only school wide, but within the classrooms so they will compete but improve themselves in quality education. They will have science and all the hands on things that we can't buy through our normal school account. They're going to benefit so I'm very grateful and the staff are grateful. Thank you!"
