Hawaiian Telcom representatives set up shop in the parking lot of the Pearl City Shopping Center on Tuesday to introduce their newly launched television service to the community and their customers.

“We’re rolling out our video service in targeted areas throughout Oahu including the Pearl City area, which is why we chose to have the event here and demonstrate our service to this community,” said Shannon-Leigh Ma’afala, Hawaiian Telcom’s Director-Consumer Product Management. “It’s really just to showcase our service and introduce the product to the Pearl City customers and let them know that they have a choice.”

Hawaiian Telcom turned up a live feed on two television screens that were mounted in a covered trailer in the Pearl City Shopping Center parking lot fronting Foodland Super Market. Customers had the opportunity to view Hawaiian Telcom television services and programming from 4pm – 9pm during the community event.

Customer service representatives from Hawaiian Telcom were on hand to assist customers interested in signing up for television services. Many of the attendees on Tuesday had earlier received a direct mail announcement from Hawaiian Telcom informing them of the event.

Hawaiian Telcom representatives were also excited to introduce and offer their new 100% digital service to all customers.

“Our new video service is a digital service that we’re offering,” Ma’afala said. “Customers in Hawaii have become accustomed to what the competition offers. Our service is a little different in that it is 100% digital with unique features. You have to see it to really appreciate it.”

One question that was asked by customers during the event was the cost comparison between Hawaiian Telcom and the competition for their television services?

“Costs are comparable to that of the competition,” Ma’afala said. “There are differences depending on the premium services that you buy, but its very “feature rich” and so you have to look at the different features that you use to really do a comparison. It’s not easy for me to say the difference in price without looking at the different features.”

A feature that will really come in handy if you’re busy like me is the new “Whole Home Service”.

“We offer “Whole Home Service”, Ma’afala said. “If you purchase premium services like HBO, HD or DVR, you get it on all your televisions in your house. You can pause in one room and then resume what you were watching in another room.”

Now that’s pretty cool!

Mahalo to Hawaiian Telcom for choosing the Pearl City Shopping Center to connect their new television services with the Pearl City community.
