Yumi & Christina

Oct 4, 2011 | Heart and Soul

Yumi Laney and daughter Christina Laney-Wycheck have been chosen as our PC Heart & Soul community volunteers for the month of October.

Yumi and Christina are angels with hearts of gold. Together, with the help of their ohana, they volunteer during the Holiday season to collect canned food donations from the Pearl City community through their Annual Neighborhood Thanksgiving Food Drive. All donations directly benefit the Hawaii Food Bank for those in need.

“We wanted to give back to our community that would involve our community," said Yumi Laney. "We both felt that the Hawaii Foodbank would be the best organization to support because at one point in our lives, they supported us."

4th Annual Neighborhood Thanksgiving Food Drive

After three years of successful food donation campaigns, Yumi and Christina are busy preparing for the 4th Annual Neighborhood Thanksgiving Food Drive that will take place on Saturday, November 5th at 9:30am near their home on Hoolaulea Street. The week before they will pass out bags generously donated by Hard Rock Cafe to residents in their neighborhood. On November 5th they will comb the area that the bags were dropped off to pick up donations.

Last year, Yumi and Christina along with their volunteer ohana, collected 977 pounds of canned food donations.

"The Hawaii Foodbank has seen record lows in food supply these past few years and here is where every little bit helps!" said Christina Laney-Wycheck. "By “door knocking” on 300 homes and bringing this food drive to each household made it easier for those wanting to donate, to donate."

Yumi and Christina also receive full support for their efforts through their employer,  Kahala Associates, Oahu’s premiere, full-service luxury real estate brokerage firm where they work as associates.

"Thank you Pearl City for your continued support…from your Neighborhood Realtors ®, Yumi & Christina!”
