The Pearl City Community Association (PCCA) adopted Pearl City Highlands Elementary School during the 4th Annual Adopt-A-School Day held on Sunday, October 9, 2011.
Community volunteers from the Pearl City Community Association, Pearl City Foundation and Mana Loa-Nimitz Lions Club joined Pearl City Highlands Elementary school staff to paint sidewalk lines and parking lot curbs to help assist partially blind students to navigate around campus.
The Adopt-A-School Day event is presented each year by the Hawaii Jaycees throughout the state. The purpose of the annual event is to mobilize the community to serve Hawaii's schools.
The Hawaii Jaycees "Adopt-A-School Day" lists 115 Hawaii schools adopted in 2011.
The adoption of Pearl City Highlands Elementary School by the Pearl City Community Association for Adopt-A-School Day represents the organizations commitment to support Pearl City District Complex Schools through their volunteer manpower efforts and financial assistance each year.
