Christina Fonoimoana-Hall is a true team mom who attends every game in support of the Chargers and most importantly her son Adrian, who is a senior wide receiver on the varsity team.

The 2011 season has already made its way into the Chargers football record books as both the junior varsity and varsity squads captured OIA regular season championships with undefeated records. It’s a feat that has never been accomplished in 38 seasons of the Pearl City High School football program.

On Friday night, the Chargers hope to add to the Chargers record books with a junior varsity win against Kaimuki and a varsity win against McKinley in the OIA Football White Conference Semi Finals at Pearl City High School.

In the stands on Friday will be Fonoimoana-Hall with a special good luck charm that she believes has watched over the Chargers so far this season.

“My mom was a big, big football fanatic,” said Fonoimoana-Hall. “She’s not here anymore. She passed away two years ago. This season I brought her small little urn with me to every game in my sports bra and it worked. We won!”

That’s right. She keeps her mom close to her heart at every game. In return, her mom's spirit watches over her grandson Adrian and the rest of his teammates. I guess you could say that matter what, once a Charger fan, always a Charger fan.

Mahalo to Christina Fonoimoana-Hall for sharing her story with me so I could pass it on to you.  Hopefully her mom’s spirit and good luck charm will guide the Chargers on as their quest to add to the football programs record books with every win as they make their way to an OIA Championship and the ultimate dream of capturing the 2011 HHSAA DII State Football Title.

Go Chargers!
