Pearl City and Kapolei play to 6-6 tie

Pearl City and Kapolei played to a 6-6 tie on Wednesday in an OIA Junior Varsity Baseball match up at Pearl City High School. The two teams completed seven innings just as darkness fell upon the Chargers baseball complex.

Pearl City held a 4-0 lead after five complete innings before Kapolei exploded for six runs in the top of the sixth inning to take a 6-4 lead. The inning was highlighted by Aizon Kahana's 2 RBI triple to left center field with two outs to break a 4-4 tie and put the Hurricanes up 6-4 over Pearl City.

Pearl City came back in the bottom of the sixth inning to tie the score at 6-6. Rally Oshiro led off the bottom of the inning with triple to left-center field. Oshiro would later score on Nicholas Au's RBI bunt single to move within one run of the Hurricanes at 6-5. The Chargers went on to tie the game at 6-6 on a bases loaded walk to Jason Komoda that scored Shaye Higa from third base.

Both teams were held scoreless in the seventh inning as darkness shut down any chance of extra innings.

Pearl City's Rally Oshiro led the Chargers at the plate with a single, double and triple with one run scored.

Kapolei's Khayson Espanola stroked a couple singles for the Hurricanes along with Aizon Kahana's 2 RBI triple.

Pearl City sent three pitchers to the mound against Kapolei. Starter Matthew Tsutomi threw four complete innings before being relieved by Shiloh Baniaga and Tyler Kushima.

Kapolei starter Dillon White threw three complete innings before yielding to reliever Robby Oliveros who threw four complete innings.

Pearl City starting pitcher #17 Matthew Tsutomi pitched four complete innings for the Chargers allowing no runs, 4 hits with 2 strikeouts.

Kapolei's #43 Dillon White pitched 3 innings for the Hurricanes allowing 3 runs on 4 hits with 2 strikeouts.

Kapolei's #1 Aizon Kahana smashed a 2 RBI triple to left center field with two outs in the top of the 6th inning to break a 4-4 tied and put the Hurricanes up 6-4 over Pearl City.

#15 Nicholas Au lays down an RBI bunt single that scored Rally Oshiro from third base in the bottom of the sixth inning that pulled the Chargers within one of the Hurricanes at 6-5. #1 Shaye Higa would later score from third base on a bases loaded walk to Jason Komoda that tied the game at 6-6.
