Representative K. Mark Takai along with the Honolulu Police Department would like to announce and invite you to the next CTAP – Community Traffic Awareness Program signwaving event scheduled for this Wednesday, March 7, 2012. CTAP volunteers will be at the corner of Kaahumanu Street and Komo Mai Drive, makai of the Waiau Fire Station from 4:30pm-5:30pm.

"The purpose of the event is to ensure that everyone who drives through Kaahamanu Street and our community is aware of the 25 mph speed limit," said Representative Takai. "This is a heavily traveled road, not only by community residents, but also by those using Kaahumanu Street as a passageway to Aiea, Pearl City and Pacific Palisades. The goal of the project is to make drivers slow down and be aware of pedestrians in the crosswalk, especially the children going to our neighborhood parks.”

Members of the Lanakila Soccer Club from Pearl City and their families will be participating in this event as part of a team community service project to encourage drivers to slow down near Waiau District Park. This girls youth soccer team practices at this location two to three times per week.

If do decide to join the volunteers, please park in the Waiau District Park parking lot and along the nearby streets.

Hope to see you there!
