Kaiser over Pearl City 8-6 in American Legion play

The Kaiser Cougars outlasted the Pearl City Chargers in a close 8-6 win on Wednesday in American Legion competition played at Central Oahu Regional Park (CORP) in Waipio.

Kaiser Cougar starting pitcher Noah Sakatani earned the win for the Cougars pitching four complete innings before being relieved in the top of fifth inning by Aran Oda with a 5-4 lead over the Chargers.

Pearl City's Kamalu Neal took the loss for the Chargers. Neal came into the game in the bottom of fourth inning in relief of starter Dane Kaneshiro with the Chargers up 4-3. Neal allowed two runs in the bottom the of the fourth inning and three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning that put the Cougars up 8-4 after six complete innings.

The Chargers made a move in the top of the seventh inning scoring two runs to pull within a couple runs at 8-6 but left two runners on base to end the game.

Pearl City returns to action on Friday, June 1 against Moanalua at Hans L'Orange  Park in Waipahu. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00pm.
