MKH/Ewa wins District 7 Senior Championship

MKH/Ewa won the District 7 Senior Hawaii Little League Baseball Championship 7-6 over Waipio/Pearl City on Tuesday at Hans L'Orange Park in Waipahu. MKH/Ewa earned a spot in the state tournament that begins this Friday.

Dylan White, Zachary Recolar and Kawika Teixeira pitched for MKH/Ewa allowing six runs on seven hits.

Kamalu Neal went the distance for Waipio/Pearl City allowing seven runs on eight hits in six innings of work.

On Tuesday, MKH was cruising along with a 6-1 lead entering the top of the sixth inning when Waipio/Pearl City put a five run rally together to tie the game at 6-6.

In the bottom of the sixth inning MKH/Ewa regained the lead at 7-6 on an RBI single by Zachary Recolar that drove in Aizon Kahana from third base breaking the 6-6 tie.

Waipio/Pearl City had a golden opportunity to score in the top of the seventh inning with the bases loaded and no outs. Isaiah Motta got on base with a bunt single to load the bases. Next batter Lane Asuncion hit a single. Ryne Tokunaga broke from third base to home on the play but got thrown out at the plate. Keyan Ishii and Bronson Padilla recorded the final two outs to end the game.
