Pearl City outscores Ewa Beach 14-1 in Little League championship tournament

In a must win situation, Pearl City turned their game up a few notches in the 2012  Hawaii State 10 -11 Little League Championship with a 14-1 win over Ewa Beach on Sunday at Heeia Elementary School in Kanoehe.

Pearl City (2-1) advanced to the next round of the championship tournament and will play Waipio (2-1) today at 4:00pm. Waipio beat Kaneohe 8-3 in the first of three games played at the Heeia Elementary School field on Sunday. Ewa Beach and Kaneohe were eliminated from the double elimination championship tournament.

In Sunday's game, Pearl City jumped out in front of Ewa Beach early scoring three runs in the top of the first inning. Pearl City took a 8-0 lead before Ewa Beach scored their only run of the ball game in the fourth inning.

Pearl City scored another run in the top of the fifth inning to increase their lead to 9-1. They capped the win with a five run, five hit, top of the sixth inning that was highlighted by a two-run homerun shot over the center field fence by Michael Yanagi and a two-RBI double by Carter Ogino.

Pearl City's Tarynce Antolin started on the mound for Pearl City. S. Banaay got the start for Ewa Beach.
