If you're a University of Hawaii Warrior Football fan, Thursday night's Aiea/Pearl City Town Hall Meeting, held at the Pearl Ridge Elementary School cafeteria and sponsored by state legislators representing Aiea and Pearl City, featured UH Warrior Football Head Coach Norm Chow who got everyone in attendance pumped up and excited to get the 2012 Warrior football season underway.

University of Hawaii Warrior Football Head Coach Norm Chow opens with a rally call to Warrior fans and supporters who attended Thursday night's Aiea/Pearl City Town Hall meeting held at the Pearl Ridge Elementary School cafeteria.

With Warrior Football training camp less than a week away, Warrior Football Head Coach Norm Chow made a visit to our community to say thank you to our local legislators and residents for their support of the UH Warrior Football program and UH Athletics.

"We've been invited to a couple of these meetings previously and I think we're here to show gratitude to the Senator's and Representative's that have shown us their support," said Chow. "They passed legislation which allowed us to get some money which we badly need to improve some of the facilities. That's basically why we're here. We're not in the political realm, and it's nice to get out and see some of the people and be in the community.”

Coach Chow realizes the importance of reaching out to the community for their support. Delivering a product that builds a bond between the fans, supporters, and the UH football program is the key to their success.

"We obviously need all the help," Chow said. "We need fan support. This isn't a university deal. I told a lot of people when this job first opened, and you know I had a good job on the mainland, but after interviewing with the members on the committee, you realized what they were about. They wanted to have a team that the community could support. They wanted to have a team that the community could rally around. We're the only game in town. There's no professional sports. There's no other university that plays football. It's a big responsibility. In order for people to rally around, we have to have a product that's worth rallying around. We take that responsibility very seriously.”

Rockne Freitas, University of Hawaii Vice President for Student Affairs and University/Community Relations who also serves as Acting University of Hawaii Athletics Director and newly hired UH Sand Volleyball Head Coach Scott Wong (Pearl City resident) were also guest speakers Thursday night.

MyPearlCity.com would like to say mahalo to our area legislators for sponsoring a great evening with Head Coach Norm Chow and representatives from the University of Hawaii Athletics Program.

I would have to say that there is a pretty good chance for those in attendance Thursday night who were not current 2012 UH season ticket holders before the Aiea/Pearl City Town Hall Meeting, might have just become one. If not, here's the University of Hawaii Athletics web site to check out and show your support:
