The Pearl City Chargers busted out of an 0-3 start last night with a 54-7 romp over Roosevelt at the Rough Riders Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium. It was the first win for Pearl City Chargers Head Coach David Halllums since taking over the football program earlier in the year.

The Chargers swept both the varsity and junior varsity contests with the junior varsity winning 38-0 to open the doubleheader. The Chargers combined for 92 points while allowing only seven points on the night.

In the Chargers varsity win, QB Brock Teixeira had a career night connecting on 15 of 25 passes for 310 yards and seven touchdowns.

Isaac Amorin also had a career night haul ling in five of the seven Teixeira touchdown tosses. Amorin finished with 8 catches for 211 yards. Teammate Tanner Tokunaga electrified the crowd scoring on a 65 touchdown reception from Teixeira in the second quarter followed by an 82 yard punt return that put the Chargers up 53-7 in the fourth quarter. Tokunaga caught 5 passes for 101 yards.

Kristian Vaana-Kikuyama scored on a nine yard touchdown pass from Teixeira in the second quarter.

Roosevelt's Kainoa Koki scored the Rough Rider's only touchdown to open scoring in the first quarter on a 54 yard touchdown reception from Michael Matsuoka.

The Chargers win couldn't have come at a better time with team having a few players down along with the pressure to notch that elusive first win of the season. Head Coach David Hallums walked off the turf at the Rough Riders Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium with a sense of relief and praise for his team and coaches.

"I'm relieved, just relieved," said Hallums. "The boys did a good job. It's all them. We just gotta keep working hard everyday. The coaches do a good job with the guys everyday. We have a few guys down, but we didn't skip a beat. Isaac Amorin and Tanner Tokunaga  stepped up tonight. Defensively, offensively, and special teams, everyone contributed to this win tonight."
