Lady Chargers fall to McKinley 48-26 in OIA JV Championship Tourney

Pearl City was eliminated from the OIA White Division Junior Varsity Girls Basketball Championship Tournament after being defeated by McKinley 48-26 in a semifinal match-up on Thursday at Pearl City High School.

McKinley pulled away from the Lady Chargers after a close first quarter that ended with the Lady Tigers ahead 6-5. McKinley turned it up a notch in the second quarter behind the hot hand of Jazmayne Williams to outscore the Lady Chargers 20-8 and take a 26-13 halftime lead.

McKinley increased their lead and pressure on Pearl City in the second half to defeat the Lady Chargers by a 22 point margin.

The Lady Chargers played tough to end and represented their school and athletics program with pride and class. They finished the 2012-2013 season at 3-8.

McKinley has a record of 7-4 heading into Saturday's OIA White Division Junior Varsity Championship game against Castle. Castle (9-2) defeated Waipahu (2-9) 58-32 on Thursday to advance to Saturday's (1/19) championship game (site and time TBA).
