Honolulu City Council Presents Certificate of Appreciation to Pearl City Urgent Care, Honors CEO Donna Schmidt, and Offers First Anniversary Congratulations.

The City of Honolulu congratulates CEO Donna Schmidt and Pearl City Urgent Care on its First Anniversary and expresses gratitude for bringing much needed medical services to Pearl City, Honolulu, Waikiki, Waipahu, Aiea, Kapolei, Kunia, Waipio, Makakilo, Halawa, Mililani, and Ewa Beach.

Donna Schmidt, founder and CEO of Pearl City Urgent Care, was recently honored by the Honolulu City Council at a Special Awards Ceremony. Councilmember Breene Harimoto presented the Certificate of Appreciation and stated, “On behalf of the people of the City and County of Honolulu, the Council hereby congratulates Pearl City Urgent Care on its First Anniversary, expresses its gratitude for bringing much needed medical services to Pearl City, and welcomes the facility as a full-fledged member of the Pearl City community. The Council further extends its warmest aloha to founder and CEO, Donna Schmidt; Medical Director, Dr. Keith Stephenson, and the dedicated staff of Pearl City Urgent Care, and wishes them all enduring success in their medical mission.”

As a medical social worker, Donna Schmidt learned that many of her elderly clients were told to visit the ER when it was not necessary due to a lack of options—resulting in overcrowded ER’s and increased overall medical care costs. In addition, she found there was a vital need for a state-of-the-art immediate medical care facility to serve the communities of Pearl City, Honolulu, Waikiki, Waipahu, Aiea, Kapolei, Kunia, Waipio, Makakilo, Halawa, Mililani, and Ewa Beach. This led Schmidt to create Pearl City Urgent Care as a means to provide convenient, safe, and efficient care in an environment that promotes healing.

Schmidt remarks, “We truly appreciate being honored by the City and County of Honolulu, and we especially thank Councilmember Breene Harimoto for the presentation and congratulations on our First Anniversary. We are proud of the high quality medical services we provide. Our patients can avoid the crowded waiting rooms and long waits for care as our goal is to get people in and out comfortably and quickly. The moment people walk in the door, they’ll notice that this is not the typical emergency or lab waiting room. We have created a comfortable setting to help patients feel embraced in a healing environment – their stress levels lessen and they feel more at ease as our professional staff guides them to get the immediate medical care they need.”

Melissa Bojorquez, Pearl City Urgent Care Community Outreach Liaison, adds, “We are honored to be recognized for the services we provide in the community. From giving wellness seminars, to sponsoring the Health Fair and offering free blood pressure checks at the Momilani Farmer’s Market, to participating in career days at local schools and colleges and informing students about the medical profession, we are proud to be a part of the fabric and heart of our communities.”

Pearl City Urgent Care celebrates its First Anniversary, February 20 – 23, 2013. The theme is "I Love, Love, Love, Pearl City Urgent Care!" The public is invited to stop in and share the love from 12:00 noon to 6:00 pm and register to win prizes, receive free gifts and enjoy refreshments.
