Pearl City over King Kekaulike 1-0 (10-9) in third round of PK shootout

The Pearl City Chargers advanced to the HHSAA State Division I Boys Soccer Championship Tournament Quarterfinals after defeating the King Kekaulike Na Ali'i 1-0 (10-9) in the third round of a penalty kick shootout on Wednesday at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex in Waipahu.

After completing regulation play, Pearl City and King Kekaulike battled through double overtime to reach the penalty kick shootout. It came down to the ultimate test of endurance by Chargers goalie Jared Louis and Na Ali'i goalie Cameron Baker. Entering the third round of penalty kicks, both goalies were spent with shot after shot getting through their guard at the goal.

Pearl City won the battle with the help of goalie Jared Louis who came out from his goalie position to nail two penalty kicks and seal the win for the Chargers after turning back King Kekaulike shooter Reece Ibara to end the match.

The Chargers advance to the quarterfinals to take on #2 seed Punahou on Thursday, February 7 at 5:00pm at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex Main Stadium.
