Kapolei ace Kacee Navarro pitched the Lady Hurricanes past the Pearl City Lady Chargers 4-3 in OIA Red Western Division varsity softball on Saturday at Pearl City High School.
Navarro pitched seven complete innings giving up three runs on five hits with nine strikeouts.
Lady Chargers starting pitcher Cydny Rivera pitched five innings allowing one run on four hits with no strikeouts.
Kristin Frost took the loss for Lady Chargers in relief of Rivera pitching two innings while giving up three runs on two hits.
The Lady Chargers took a 2-1 lead into the top of the sixth inning before the Lady Hurricanes jumped on Frost for three runs to take a 4-2 lead. Pearl City came back to move within one run at 4-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning but Lady Hurricanes starter Navarro struck out Pearl City's Natalie Kang with two outs leaving the tying run stranded in scoring position at third base.
Makana Meyers led the Lady Hurricanes hitting 2-3 with an RBI. Kacee Navarro went 1-3 with 2 RBI and 1 run scored.
Pearl City's Joe-Ann Rapoza hit 2-3 with 1 run scored. Anuhea Rapoza went 1-3 at the plate with an RBI for the Lady Chargers.
Pearl City returns to action on the road against Waipahu on Saturday, March 9 with first pitch scheduled for 3:00pm.

Kristin Frost took the loss for the Lady Chargers in relief of starter Cydny Rivera. Frost evened her regular season record at 1-1. Frost pitched the Lady Chargers to a 6-0 win over Leilehua on Thursday, February 28 to open the regular season.
