Community volunteers representing both the Pearl City Lions and Mana Loa-Nimtz Lions Clubs spent Saturday morning pulling weeds and painting over graffiti along  Moanalua Road in Aiea from Toys R Us to Alvah A. Scott Elementary School.

"We've been doing a lot of beautification in Aiea," said Mana Loa-Nimitz Lion Club President Warren Hiromoto. "It's great to have everybody come out and help so early in the morning. Thanks to Dexter Aoki for arranging our work day. We are very happy to be working along with the Pearl City Lions Club."

Saturday's work day is part of Lions Clubs International's efforts to protect the environment. Hawaii District 50 Lions Clubs have designated the month of March as a district wide clean up effort throughout the state.
