Free dictionaries to Webling, next up Lehua Elementary, Palisades Elementary

Rotary Club of Pearlridge community volunteers stopped in at Webling Elementary School in Aiea on Wednesday, March 13 to deliver free dictionaries to 66 third grade students and their teachers.

The free dictionaries are distributed each year to third grade students representing five elementary schools in Pearl City and Aiea. The dictionaries are presented by the Rotary Club of Pearlridge as a part of the annual Hawaii Rotary District 5000 Dictionary Project.

On Wednesday, third grade teachers, Mrs. Lynn Yasutomi. Ms. JoAnn Nakashima and Mr. Dayton Labanon, along with their third grade students, welcomed the Pearlridge Rotarians to their classroom with a beautiful lei and gifts. The students also performed a song in Hawaiian to say mahalo to the Rotarians for their generosity.

Pearlridge Rotarian Clifton Yasutomi was given a very special opportunity to be  the lead presenter in his mom's class, third grade teacher Mrs. Lynn Yasutomi.

As an incentive for the students to fully utilize and learn from their new dictionaries, the Rotary Club of Pearlridge will award a $100 savings bonds to one boy and one girl that best exemplifies Rotary International's "Service Above Self" and the Principles of the "Four Way Test".

1.  Is it the truth;
2.  Is it fair to all concerned,
3.  Will it bring good will and better friendships
4.  Will it be beneficial to all concerned.

Each dictionary includes the "Four Way Test" which is attached to the inside cover for the third grade students to follow.

Mahalo to Rotary Club of Pearlridge members; Dick Mosko, Jeff Oya, CliftonTasutomi, Rick Lau, Jarrett Oshiro and Barry Villamil for being a part of the dictionary presentations at Webling Elementary School.

Also mahalo to Webling Elementary School Principal Sherry Yamada, third grade teachers  Mrs. Lynn Yasutomi, Ms. JoAnn Nakashima and Mr. Dayton Labanon and especially to all the third grade students.
