Campbell beats Pearl City 3-2 in 11 innings to remain unbeaten

The losing streak continues for Pearl City as the Campbell Sabers sent the Chargers to their third straight loss in row with a 3-2 win that went 11 innings on Saturday at Campbell High School.

Campbell upped their regular season record to a perfect 5-0 and sit atop the OIA Red Western Division in first place.  The Chargers fell below .500 at 2-3 in league play.

Ian Kahaloa earned the win for the Sabers in relief allowing one run on two hits with one strikeout and one walk. Kahaloa worked  the 9th, 10th, and 11th innings for the Sabers.

Jasten Smeigh started the ball game for Campbell pitching six innings while allowing one run on eight hits with two strikeouts and one walk.

Zachary Kapihe relieved Smeigh in the seventh inning, allowing no runs, one hit with two strikeouts in two innings of work.

Sean Milan pitched 8 2/3 innings for the Chargers in a no decision allowing two runs on six hits with five strikeouts and two walks

Tanner Tokunaga took the loss for the Chargers in two innings of relief. Tokunaga allowed one run on two hits with one strikeout.

The Chargers took an early lead in the ball game after jumping out in front of Campbell 1-0 in the top of the second inning. The Sabers tied it up at 1-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning on a pick off attempt at first base by the pitcher Sean Milan that got past the first baseman scoring Rayven Kahana from third base.

The Chargers had an opportunity to break the 1-1 tie in the top of the seventh inning. With Colby Hirano on second base and Kyle Tom on first base with two outs, next batter Kamalu Neal hit a single to left field. Hirano attempted to score from second base on the play and was thrown out at the plate for the third out. The Chargers left  two runners on base in the inning.

Both teams traded runs in the ninth inning. Tied at 2-2 in the bottom of the eleventh inning, the Sabers pulled out the victory on a wild throw to third base that scored Brannon Okinaka from third.

The Chargers return to action at home on Wednesday, March 20 against Aiea. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30pm.
