Kapolei remains winless in league play after 7-2 loss to Pearl City

Mar 24, 2013 | PC Sports

The Kapolei Hurricanes are still looking for their first win of the regular season after dropping yesterday's OIA Red Western Division contest to Pearl City 7-2 at Pearl City High School.

It's not for a lack of talent that the Hurricanes have been kept out of the win column so far during the regular season. The Hurricanes are young and will definitley be a force to be reckoned with as the underclassmen gain experience with more playing time in the second round of league play.

In yesterday's win, Pearl City received a strong performance from Chargers starting pitcher Dane Kaneshiro who allowed only  two runs on three hits in five complete innings of work.

Sophomore Hurricanes hurler Robert Oliveros took the loss for Kapolei allowing seven runs on eight hits with one strikeout and four walked batters in 4 2/3 innings..

It was the second meeting between the two teams with Pearl City sweeping the regular season series. The Chargers defeated the Mules 17-3 to open the regular season on February 27, 2013 at Kapolei.

With Saturday's win over Kapolei, Pearl City has fought their way back above .500 at 4-3 with their second win a row.

The Chargers return to action on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, on the road, against Leilehua with first pitch set for 3:30pm.
