Lions wipe out graffiti at Pearl Harbor Bike Path Clean Up

Community volunteers from the Pearl City Lions Club and Mana Loa-Nimitz Lions Club joined forces on Saturday, April 6, 2013 to paint over graffiti during the Annual Pearl Harbor Bike Path Clean Up.

Pearl City Lions and Mana Loa-Nimitz Lions represent Hawaii Lions District 50. Membership from the two clubs team up throughout the year with the purpose of serving their community as volunteers through community service projects.

On Saturday, the Lions Club volunteers concentrated their efforts along the bike path starting at Lehua Elementary School. They did a great job working as a team.

"Wow! What a group of lions can do," said Warren Hiromoto, President,  Mana Loa-Nimitz Lions Club. "We took on the graffiti painting at the sewer plant mauka of the bike path heading west starting from Lehua Elementary School."

The Lions Club volunteers had their work cut out for them from the very beginning on Saturday just to get their supplies to the bike path work area. Once in place, the volunteers got to work and actually completed the job in less time than expected.

"We had to unload all the painting gear and carry it about 300 yards in on the bike path to get to our destination," President Hiromoto said. " It seems like a big job, but when you have dedicated lions who know how to work, the graffiti job took only 1 hour and 15 minutes."

Mahalo to Pearl City Lions Club President Jerry Nagatani, Lion Dexter Aoki (planner and organizer of the volunteer project), and Mana Loa-Nimitz Lions Club President Warren Hiromoto for leading a truly dedicated core of Lions Club community volunteers who always serve their community with pride!
