Kailua slides past Pearl City 5-4 in 10 innings at the Hawaii State Little League 10-11 Championship Tourney

Kailua's Luke Hamocon scored the winning run in the top of the 10th inning to beat Pearl City 5-4 on Saturday at the Hawaii State Little League 10-11 Championship Tournament played at Norman Aweau Field in Kailua.

Hamocon scored from second base after Jackson Henry pushed a bunt up the first base line with the throw to first base getting past the first baseman. Hamocon was waved around third base and beat the throw from first base to the plate. 

Kailua (2-0) will play Waipio (2-0) this afternoon at 3:00pm in the winner's bracket of the double elimination state championship tournament. Pearl City (1-1) drops into the loser's bracket and will play at 12:00pm this afternoon.

Jackson Henry, Jaden Amasiu and Luke Hamocon pitched in the win. Kailua pitchers recorded 13 strikeouts against Pearl City.

Blaise Torres, Makana Canyon and Koamana Rosa pitched for Pearl City. Pearl City pitchers struck out 11 Kailua batters.

Pearl City outhit Kailua 10-4.

Koamana Rosa lined out to lead off the top of the first inning. Ethan Kitamura hit a single into right field. Next batter Brandon Sarae walked putting runners on first and second with one out. Sheldon Yamura got hit by a pitch to load the bases. Kitamura scored the first run of the ball game on a pass ball at the plate. The runners moved up to second and third. Next batter Blaise Torres hit a 2 RBI single to right field driving in Sarae and Yamura to give Pearl City a 3-0 lead. Torres made it to second base on the play. RJ Kami entered the game as a pinch runner for Torres at second base. Shaden Yamura got on base safely with an infield grounder. Kami got caught in a rundown at second base for the second out of the inning. Chase Sampaio stroked a single into centerfield. Kailua starting pitcher Jackson Henry struck out Jaydon Tomas for the third out.

Pearl City starting pitcher Blaise Torres walked lead-off batter Luke Hamocon. Hamocon advanced to second base on a pass ball at the plate. Torres walked the next batter Devin Jicha. Jackson Henry got on base with a single to load the bases. Next batter Jayke Dolan slammed a 3 RBI triple to tie the game at 3-3. Pearl City made a pitching change bringing in Makana Canyon in relief of Torres. Canyon struck out Joevid Lee Pacheco for the first out. Canyon struck out Jaden Amasiu for the second out. Next batter Noah Chung grounded out for the third out.

Kailua scored three runs on one hit with one runner left on base.

Brandon Sarae stroked an RBI single scoring Rosa from second base to give Pearl City a 4 -3 lead. Next batter Sheldon Yamura got on first base with an infield grounder. Blaise Torres walked to load the bases. RJ Kami re- entered the game to pinch run for Torres at first base. Next batter Shaden Yamura popped out to second base for the third out.

Jackson Henry led off the inning with a single to right field. Jayke Dolan hit a single to center field putting runners on first and second with no outs. Next batter Liam Nichols-Shiply hit a single to load the bases. Canyon struck out Jaden Amasiu for the first out. Noah Chung hit a grounder that scored Jackson Henry from third base to tie the game at 4-4. Bryanna Soares popped out to second base for the third out.

Kaliua scored one run on three hits with three runners left on base.

Luke Hamocon walked off of Pearl City reliever Koamana Rosa to lead off the bottom of the tenth inning. Devin Jicha moved Hamocon into scoring position at second base with a sac bunt. Next batter Jackson Henry pushed a bunt up the first base line with the throw to first base getting past the first baseman allowing Hamocon to scoot around third base and beat the throw from first to the plate and score the winning run.

Kailua scored one run on no hits.
