Pearl City Senior Little League All Stars – Western Regional Tournament Update

On 7/19, the PC Senior team headed to Maui for the State tournament.  They defeated Aiea on 7/20, 11-1.  7/21 they defeated Maui 3-1. 7/22 in the championship games, PC lost to Maui 0-2.  Maui came from the losers bracket and needed to beat PC twice to win the championship.  In the 2nd championship game, PC beat Maui decisively, 9-1 to win the right to go to the Western Senior LL tournament in Ontario, California July 30-Aug. 6.

Quickly flying out in 4 days, Pearl City faced Washington on July 30 at 9:00 Pacific time to win 10-0 in the bottom of the 5th inning.  Dane Kaneshiro pitched 4 innings and Tyler Kushima pitched the 5th inning against Washington.  Top hitter was Colby Hirano who went 3 for 4 with a double and 3 RBIs, driving in the Trestan Nakamura & Tyler Tashiro to make it 10 -0.  

There are 8 teams in this Western Regional tournament trying to get to the World Series in Bangor, Maine. The PC team will play all 7 teams and the two teams with the best win/lost record will play in the championship game on Tues, Aug. 6.

On July 31, PC lost to Chino Nationals, the host team in an exciting game 6-8.  Brandon Henderson pitched the first 3 innings and gave up 1 run.  Chevy Sumile came in next and pitched 1 3/4 innings and gave up 2 runs. Sanyo Lo came to relieve Chevy in the 5th and gave up 5 runs.   Pearl City scored their 6 runs in the 2nd inning and got shut down by the relief pitcher from Chino Nationals.   Top hitters:  Colby Hirano- 4 for 4 1 RBI    Matt Tsutomi  2 doubles & 2 RBIs  Sanyo Lo  2 for 2 with a double & RBI  Shaye Higa 1 double

On Aug. 1 PC beat Oregon 35-0 in 5 innings.  Brent Clymer pitched a no hitter.

Today, Aug. 2, Pearl City will be challenging Southern California at 6:00 pm Pacific time.  Southern Calif. and Chino Nationals are undefeated w/ a 3-0 record.

 

Pearl City Senior Little League Western Regional Tournament Update: 8/2/2013

We would like to inform you that the Pearl City Senior All Star Little League team has won their game against Southern California 14-4. Previously SoCal was undefeated. Trestan Nakamura dominated the opposing team with a onslaught of off speed pitches. Pitching 5 1/3 innings while only giving up three earned runs. Pearl City offense was potent as well, scoring 14 runs off of 11 hits, half of those hits were for extra bases. Matt Tustomi shined going 2 for 5 with 3 rbi's. Pearl City's record is now 3-1 and they play Northern California tomorrow night at 6 pm (3 pm hawaii time).
