Today's Pearl City Senior LL World Series update reported by Kelsey Higa:
Pearl City is on their way to the semi-finals. With a 11-1 win by mercy rule over the host team (Bangor, Maine), Pearl City is in 1st place in Pool A.
Pearl City came out swinging today scoring 11 runs off of 8 hits, 3 of those runs coming from the very first inning. Colby Hirano led off with a base hit to the shortstop, beating out the throw. Kawai Takemura then stroked a line drive base hit to right, putting runners on first and second. The next three batters, Matt Tsutomi, Sanyo Lo, and Tyler Kushima, all walked scoring Hirano and Takemura. Shaye Higa hit a sac fly scoring Tsutomi.
Pearl City was able to score at least one run in every inning but the 3rd. They scored 3 in the 1st, 2 runs in the 2nd, 1 run in the 4th, and another 5 runs in the 5th, creating the mercy rule. Tyler Kushima picked up the win going 5 strong innings while only giving up one run. Pearl City will be playing the 2nd place team in Pool B in the semi-finals on Friday at 11:30 am (5:30 am Hawaii time). GO PEARL CITY
