PROJECT DANA: SUPPORT SERVICES FOR SENIORS

Project Dana provides support services, such as friendly visits, light housekeeping, and grocery shopping, for frail and vulnerable elderly and disabled people.  Built around the principle of "Dana," which means "selfless giving," the volunteers of Project Dana have been providing much needed services to our Kupuna since 1989.

Gladys and Richard Tokuoka are long-time Pearl City residents who have devoted countless hours coordinating the work of Project Dana in our community.  Project Dana is an interfaith volunteer caregivers program that was founded and sponsored by Moiliili Hongwanji Mission and currently involves twenty-eight churches and temples statewide, including Pearl City Hongwanji.

The Tokuokas are looking for more volunteers for the Pearl City area, particularly to provide transportation to church services, medical appointments, and grocery shopping.

For more information on requesting services or volunteering, please contact Project Dana at (808) 945-0007, or email at [email protected]

We are very fortunate to have such selfless and compassionate residents like Gladys and Richard as members of our community, and we are grateful to them for their dedication and hard work.
