Aiea dropped in on Pearl City Monday night during the Lady Chargers Senior Night and came away with a 25-15, 25-23 straight sets victory in OIA Red Western Division Varsity Girls Volleyball.
Aiea Co-Head Coaches Blythe Yamamoto and Kory Toyozaki had their Lady Na Ali'i ready for battle against Pearl City. Toyozaki, who is a former Lady Chargers Head Coach, brought the Lady Na Ali'i into the all familiar confines of the Pearl City High School gym and guided her team, along with Yamamoto, to their fifth win of the season against one loss. Pearl City lost their fourth match in a row and fell below .500 at 3-4 league play.
Both teams head into their final three games of the regular season with every game a must win to secure a top seed heading into the OIA play-offs.
Pearl City (3-4) will play Leilehua (4-3), Waianae (1-5), and Nanakuli (5-3) in that order, on the road, starting tomorrow at Leilehua.
Aiea (5-1) will have a tough three game stretch starting with league leading Mililani (7-0) on Wednesday, followed by Kapolei (6-1), and Leilehua (4-3), all at home, to finish out the regular season.
The Lady Chargers bid farewell and Aloha to seven varsity and three Blue team seniors as they played in their last regular season home game in front of family and friends.
Aloha Lady Chargers!
