Recently, the Pearl City Little League Tigers Minors Division players, coaches and their ohana spent a couple weekends beautifying their home field ball park located below the Pearl City Recreational Center. The Tigers, and their core of volunteers, started with field maintenance work on Saturday, September 28 and followed up on Monday (10/14) and Wednesday (10/16) with pressure washing, scraping and repainting of the park bleachers. Paint and supplies were generously donated by Alan S. Hinahara Construction Inc. The use of pressure washer was provided by Harvey Morimoto of International Roofing.
It was a huge undertaking, but the Tigers tackled the project with hard work and sweat while accomplishing their goal of beautifying the ball park while making it a safe playing surface for the league to excel, have fun, and enjoy. Great Job!
"On behalf of the PCLL Tigers Minors Division, I wanted to acknowledge the efforts and teamwork of our Tigers’ families and coaches in helping to beautify PC Rec for all players.
A big mahalo goes out to Coach Mike Yamaguchi and Mike Oshiro and family (Mallory, Avin and Sandy) for taking the time to paint the cement bleachers surrounding the lower field. Prior to that, on Monday, along with the Wagatsuma (Karli & Kristy) and Nagamine families, they cleaned the area and pressure washed all the old paint from the cement bleachers and cleaned the dugouts.
Additionally, right before the Minors season games began, they all worked the entire day tilling the field and leveling off the dirt for the safety of our players. Alex Oshiro, Kelly Martinez, Steven Takase and Kamu Ainoa also helped on that day.
