Chargers reach out to Pearl City AYSO

The Pearl City Chargers Varsity Soccer Program held their first annual AYSO Soccer Clinic on Saturday, November 16 at Pearl City High School's Edwin "Bino" Neves" Stadium.

Charger Head Coach Randy Shinn, his coaching staff, and the varsity boys soccer team, hosted a group of boys and girls from the Pearl City AYSO soccer program in a two-hour clinic that taught the athletes specific soccer skills and techniques used by the Chargers on the practice field. The kids representing AYSO U10, U12, and U14 were also given a great opportunity to play in a live scrimmage to end the clinic. Following the clinic, the kids were invited to watch the Chargers scrimmage the Kalani Falcons who are the defending 2012 HHSAA Division I State Boys Soccer Champions.

Coach Shinn was happy with the turnout and was proud of his coaching staff and players who are committed to sharing their skills by reaching out to the community in support of Pearl City's youth soccer players. Coach Shinn is also grateful to AYSO and the support that the organization has given to his Charger soccer program. Their support was instrumental on Saturday in the success of the Chargers inaugural AYSO Clinic at Pearl City High School.

"For the first one we're really impressed with the amount of turnout. It's a process where we want our high school boy's to be more than soccer. We want them to understand that giving back to the community is very important to sustain a program like this. We need to progress outside the school as well. It's a work in progress. Like any other program it takes a lot of work and commitment and I'm happy to have my assistant coaches along with a lot of individuals in the community that help out and support us with the program.
