Second year Pearl City Lady Chargers varsity basketball head coach Miles Okamura and his 2013-2014 Lady Chargers basketball team have opened play in their pre-season schedule and are just a few weeks away from the Oahu Interscholastic Association White Division regular season that begins on December 10.
The Lady Chargers have put last season's 0-10 record behind them and are looking forward to this season with experience and leadership in returning players and an influx of new talent from last year's junior varsity team who have made a smooth transition to the varsity level.
Seniors Megan Ramos and Agassi Augafa will be counted on to lead the Lady Chargers with their experience and tough play at the post position. The Lady Chargers will have experience at the guard position with junior Jurey Jao and sophomore Ciera Sylva returning to the line-up. Junior center Johnneen Kapua anchors the Lady Chargers in the middle.
The Lady Chargers continue their pre-season schedule tonight and will host Roosevelt with the junior varsity game scheduled for 5:30pm and the varsity to follow. The girls will tip off the regular season on the road against the Waialua Lady Bulldogs on Tuesday, December 10.
While competeing in the OIA White Division, the Lady Chargers will also challenge top teams from the OIA Red Western Division like Kapolei, Campbell and Leilehua during the regular season.
