The Pearl City Chargers boys & girls finished second and third at the 2014 Oahu Interscholastic Association Red Division Varsity Team Wrestling Championships held on Saturday, February 22, at Leilehua High School.
Campbell High School swept both the boys and girls team championship titles.
Pearl City boys finished second (185.5) in the team standings behind Campbell (214).
Pearl City girls placed third (129) behind champion Campbell (153) and second place McKinley (146).
Pearl City boys captured three individual championship titles. Alex Ursua won the 126 lbs. title, Blake Cooper brought home the 160lbs. title, and Jordan Fuamatu ended the competition after winning the 285 lbs. championship title.
Pearl City girls were led by Breanne Takaesu (105), Alexis Ford (113) and Asia Lien Evans (121) who all finished runner-up in their weight divisions.
The Chargers move on to the HHSAA State Wrestling Championships to be held at the Neil Blaisdell Center on Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1.
