The Pearl City District 3 Community Policing Team presented the 2014 Aloha No Na Kupuna Workshop on Thursday, March 7 at the Newtown Recreation Center in Aiea.

The workshop delivered helpful safety and security tips and information to Aiea and Pearl City senior citizens. Guest speakers, informational booths, and light refreshments kept the seniors busy throughout the event that ran from 8am to 12pm.

Honolulu Police Chief Louis Kealoha and top HPD Deputy Chief's and HPD department administrators presented sponsors and supporters from the community and local businesses with Certificates of Recognition for their partnership and support of the 2014 Aloha No Na Kupuna Workshop as well as for the safety and welfare of our kupuna.

"For Pearl City, but also for all the communities, the Police department has a large stake in our senior citizens, our kupuna," said Police Chief Kealoha. "What we're doing here today is bringing together all of the stake holders, a lot of organizations, law enforcement, health, financial organizations too, that will provide information for our kupuna. Basically, what we want them to do is give them tips on how to be safe, how not to be victims of financial crimes and physical abuse. That's what the whole purpose of this is for today. I've seen this workshop getting bigger and bigger and that's the first thing I noticed when I came in today. It's really grown bigger since we first started. It's a good thing to see for all of our kupuna."
