The Leilehua Mules put together a three run, fourth inning rally to turn back Pearl City 6-5 in OIA Red Division Varsity Baseball played on Wednesday, April 16 at Leilehua.
Pearl City went up as much as 4-0 going into the bottom of the third inning before the Mules starting chipping away at the Chargers lead scoring one run in bottom of the third, two runs in bottom the fourth and three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 6-4 lead. Pearl City picked up a run in the top of the seventh to close within one run at 6-5.
Leilehua starting pitcher Mikah Takashige pitched 6 1/3 innings for the Mules allowing five runs on seven hits with two strikeouts and three walks for the win. Trayson Kubo and Wayne Abear pitched in relief of Takashige in the top of the seventh inning.
Tanner Tokunaga took the loss for Pearl City allowing six runs on six hits with two strikeouts and five walks in seven complete innings.
Ricky Van Gelder batted 2-3, with a double, 2 RBI, and a run to lead the Mules at the plate.
Tanner Tokunaga batted 2-3, with a homerun, RBI, 3 runs, one walk, and one stolen base to lead the Chargers.
With the win, Leilehua improves to 4-6 in league play. Pearl City is 3-8.
Pearl City will end the regular season against Kapolei on Saturday, April 19 at Hans L 'Orange Field in Waipahu. First pitch is set for 3:30pm.
