Pearl City shuts out Castle 6-0, to play Waianae in OIA quarterfinals

The Pearl City Lady Chargers looked impressive in their 6-0 shut-out win over Castle on Wednesday in the first round of the OIA Red Division Varsity Softball Championship Tournament played at the Lady Knights home field.

Pearl City's Kristin Frost held the Lady Knights to two hits in six complete shut-out innings to earn the win for the Lady Chargers. Frost also batted 2-4 with a homerun.

Pearl City's Tyanna Kaaialii pitched the seventh inning in relief of Frost.

Castle starting pitcher Brandee Lane took the loss for the Lady Knights allowing six runs on nine hits in seven complete innings of work.

The Lady Chargers put together a four-run, top of fourth inning rally to take a  5-0 lead. Kristin Frost scored the the final run of the ball game with a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning

Pearl City hitters pounded out nine hits against Castle. Leading hitters for the Lady Chargers:  Robi Kami 3-5, Naomi Hernandez-Hama 2-4, 2 RBI, Kristin Frost 2-4, HR.

#6 Pearl City moves on to today's quarterfinal round and will travel to #2 Waianae to take on the Lady Seariders at 3:30pm. Waianae defeated Pearl City during the regular season in a couple one run ball games, 4-3, and 1-0.
