Pearl City earned its way to today's 9 & 10 District 7 Little League championship game after defeating Nanakuli 2-1 on Sunday at Puuiki Field in Waialua. Pearl City (2-1) will play Waipio (3-0) this afternoon at 3:00pm. It will be the second match-up between the two teams in the double elimination tournament. Waipio ran past Pearl City 14-1 on Friday, June 14 in a game that was cut short after four complete innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
Waipio could win the outright District 7 championship with a victory over Pearl City this afternoon. Pearl City could force an "IF" game for the championship on Tuesday with a win over Waipio. The winner advances to the Hawaii Little League 9 & 10 Championship Tournament to be held at the Aiea Annex Field from Thursday, June 26 – Saturday, June 28.
